What is Fibre Orientation Prediction in Injection Moulded Reinforced Thermoplastic Products about?
Simulation softwares provide results which can be used for the prediction of fibre orientation and layering in fibre reinforced injection moulded products. Different models and softwares designed specifically for this task are herein presented, among which is an improved and simplified one developed at C.R.I.F. The basic algorithm of this software is presented together with application results. One of the main improvements in this approach concerns a new way to define an equivalent viscosity for the fibre/matrix medium which takes into account the interaction between fibres and matrix and thus leads to a reliable simulation of the injection moulding of fibre reinforced polymers.
