RT, the most common regimens were 20 Gy in 5 fractions (41.6%), 8 Gy in 1 fraction (32.6%), 10 Gy in 1 fraction (4.4%) and 30 Gy in 10 fractions (3.3% ). Logistic regression indicated that age less than 85 years, admission at time of diagnosis to a hospital with a cancer centre, life expectancy greater than one month and no previous history of hip radiation were all significant independent predictors of postoperative radiotherapy utilization while cancer primary did not alter the likelihood of receiving radiation. Conclusions: Malignant pathologic hip fracture is a common problem among patients dying of cancer. Most patients have surgery though few receive postoperative radiotherapy in Ontario. Health care system factors and patient factors affect the use of postoperative radiotherapy in Ontario.
