About this document

Cerebral Tuberculoma: Overview and Treatment by Adele is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Cerebral tuberculomas are a rare form of tuberculosis that occurs in approximately 1% of patients with TB, caused by the hematogenous spread of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to the brain. They are treated with high doses of corticosteroids along with a combination of anti-tuberculosis medications including INH, rifampin, and pyrazinamide for the initial 2 months, followed by INH and rifampin for 10 additional months. Surgery may be required to treat complications such as hydrocephalus or spinal cord TB.
