Colin Maclaurin was a Scottish mathematician and physicist in the 18th century. He attended the University of Glasgow at age 11 where he studied geometry under Professor Robert Simson, who influenced him greatly. After graduating in 1713, Maclaurin remained at Glasgow for another year before traveling to France and Holland to further his studies. He later returned to Scotland and succeeded Isaac Newton
