What is Leaf Color Change in Terminalia catappa about?

This study observed the leaf color changing phenology of three tree species: Ficus glauca, Terminalia catappa, and Cassia fistula in Indonesia. The leaf color changing was measured using chlorophyll content analysis and digital image analysis. The lowest chlorophyll content was observed in January for F. glauca and T. catappa, and in December for C. fistula. There were strong correlations between chlorophyll content and red/green values in the image analysis for F. glauca and T. catappa, but not C. fistula.
