About this document

Supportive Therapy for Otitis Media by Sayid Qawamuddin is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Otitis media is a common childhood infection that causes inflammation in the middle ear. Acute otitis media (AOM) specifically refers to a bacterial infection producing pus and fluid in the middle ear. Symptoms include ear pain, fever, irritability, and hearing loss. Antimicrobial therapy is the cornerstone treatment but sometimes resolves spontaneously. Symptoms should improve within 72 hours of starting antibiotics. If not, the child should be reevaluated for complications or persisting infection. Support
