Background: Although cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death in prostate cancer (PC) patients, longitudinal data for CVD risk in this population is lacking. The goal of this study is to describe baseline and follow-up changes in CAC scoring in prostate cancer patients over a 10-year period. ## Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study using the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA). We selected men without a pre-existing cancer diagnosis who had a new diagnosis of prostate cancer between 2000-2002 (n=55). We assessed CAC scores at baseline (2000)(2001)(2002) and at follow-up (2010)(2011)(2012) in PC men versus non-cancer men. CAC scores were calculated on non-contrast chest computed tomography using the Agatston method. The median CAC and quartiles 1 and 3 are reported. Differences in baseline and 10year CAC scores between PC and non-cancer men were compared using one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni correction. The effect of PC diagnosis on CAC score was assessed using multivariable linear regression, adjusting for all available clinicodemographic variables.
