## A simple chemical etching technique i s presented to fabricate optical fiber tips of 15-20-nm diameter for use as a probe for a photon scanning tunneling microscope. With the use of a single-step process, conilentional multimode fiber is etched in an unbuffered HF acid solution. The cone angle of the fabricated tips can be variedfrom 4" to 14" by adjusting the temperature and the concentration of the acid.
