Faye Glenn Abdellah was a pioneering nursing theorist and public health scientist in the 20th century. She viewed nursing as both an art and a science, and helped mold individual nurses to help patients cope with health needs. Abdellah developed a typology of 21 nursing problems to provide a framework for comprehensive patient-centered care.
