The Finmet process is a multiple fluidized bed process that reduces iron ore to metallic iron using hydrogen-rich reducing gases produced from steam reforming. Iron ore fines are fed into reactors where they are progressively reduced to iron oxide and then metallic iron. The hot direct reduced iron is then briquetted to form strong and dense Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) briquettes with over 93% metallization.
