What is Map-Like Representations of Emotion Knowledge in Hippocampal-Prefrontal Systems about?

This study investigates how hippocampal-prefrontal circuits represent emotion knowledge, suggesting that these systems create a map-like organization of emotional experiences. Using fMRI data, the researchers found that hippocampal activity reflects a structured hierarchy of emotion concepts, while the ventromedial prefrontal cortex tracks locations in a two-dimensional affective space. The findings provide insights into the neural mechanisms underlying the abstraction and organization of emotional knowledg
