A color changing LED contains three individual LEDs - red, green, and blue - along with a microcontroller that controls each color separately. By turning the individual colors on and off at different brightness levels, the microcontroller can produce any color by combining the light from the red, green, and blue LEDs. It slowly changes between colors by gradually adjusting the brightness of each color over time.
