What is Cracks in Generator Rod Serrations about?

Cracks were found in the serrations of connecting rods in the generators of a ship during an intermediate survey. All 18 connecting rods were replaced. The cracks were likely caused by insufficient processing accuracy of the serration teeth, decreased tightening torque of the rods, and uneven contact surfaces.
