This study compared the effectiveness of multiple choice and short answer test items for assessing reading comprehension abilities in 8th grade students. 36 students completed both a multiple choice and short answer reading comprehension test. Scores on the two tests were analyzed using paired sample t-tests and correlation analysis. Results found a moderate correlation between scores on the two tests.
