Mewar, a historical region in Rajasthan, India, was originally called Medhpaat and was ruled by the Guhila dynasty, with its capital at Chittor. The kingdom faced invasions, notably from Alauddin Khalji in 1303, and later struggled against Mughal forces, particularly during the reign of Rana Pratap. Eventually, Mewar became a Princely state under British protection in 1818 and was integrated into India in 1947.
