About this document

Body Movements and Joints Explained by Manisha Varma is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Joints allow movement between bones in the body. There are four main types of joints: ball and socket, pivotal, hinge, and fixed. The skeleton is made up of bones including the skull, backbone, shoulder bones, rib cage, and pelvic bones. Cartilage is softer than bone and helps joints move. Bones are moved by muscles contracting and relaxing in pairs. Different animals like earthworms, snails, cockroaches, birds, fish, and snakes move using different combinations of bones, muscles, fins, and limbs.
