What is CK2 about?

This study investigates the role of casein kinase 2 (CK2) in the extinction of remote fear memory, revealing that CK2 negatively regulates this process in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC). The administration of the CK2 inhibitor CX-4945 prior to extinction training enhanced the extinction of remote fear memory and upregulated the expression of p-ERK1/2 and p-CREB. These findings suggest potential therapeutic targets for treating anxiety-related conditions such as PTSD by modulating CK2 activity.
