What is Enhanced Carbon Fiber-Epoxy Interface about?
The interface properties between carbon fibers and epoxy resin were enhanced through treatment with supercritical water and oxygen, resulting in increased surface roughness and functional groups. The interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of the treated composites reached up to 92.8 MPa, a significant improvement compared to the untreated composites. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of supercritical water treatment in improving the adhesion between carbon fibers and resin matrices.
