What is Titanium-based Metal-organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic Applications about?
Titanium-based metal-organic frameworks (Ti-MOFs) are one among the interesting subclasses of MOFs due to their outstanding photocatalytic, optoelectronic properties, high stability of chemical and thermal properties, and special architectural characteristics. Due to the challenges faced in their synthesis, very few Ti-MOFs were utilized and reported. In the present chapter, we discussed the structures of Ti-MOFs, their synthesis, and the photocatalytic applications documented till date, exceptionally aiming to the synthetic strategies to build novel structures of Ti-MOF and the complexes that aid as photocatalysts with greater efficiency toward harvesting sunlight and also photocatalytic activity. The applications of photocatalyst such as redox reactions, disintegration of organic pollutants, water splitting, polymerization, sensors, and deoximation reaction are featured. In a broader perspective, other Ti-MOFs applications have also been introduced concisely. The present chapter aims to provide advancements of Ti-MOFs profitable to the present-generation researchers working in this field.
