The Jamaican June plum was introduced to Jamaica in 1782 from Hawaii, where Captain Bligh brought more plants. It grows fast and tall as a member of the ambarella family. Jamaica is the only country that calls it the June plum, while other countries know it as the Jew plum, golden apple, hog plum, or kedondong.
