What is Electron Microprobe Investigation of Carbides in an As-Cast Nickel-Based Superalloy Single Crystal about?

The morphologies and constitutional characteristics ofthe carbides present in an as-cast DS200+Hf single crystal alloy were investigated in detail using electron microprobe analysis. In addition to different morphological features, a large variability of composition in different particles was observed. For example, the Hf content varied between =8.5 and 78 wt.%. The main types of carbides observed were (Ti,Nb)C, (Nb,Hf,Ti)C, (Hf,\Nb)C and HfC. At high Hf contents Hf was substituted by Ti, W and Nb. The Hf concentration also affects the carbon content of the carbides; at low Hf contents the stoichiometric composition ofthe MC wasrigidiy observed, whereas at high Hf concentrations the carbide became offstoichiometric (MC.o0.38-0.92))-Mikrosondenuntersuchung der Carbide in gezogenen Einkristallen einer Nickelbasis-Superlegierung Die Morphologie und Zusammensetzung der Carbide in einer Einkristall-Legierung DS200+Hf wurde im Detail durch Mikrosondenanalyse untersucht.
