What is Demeter about?

1) Demeter, the goddess of agriculture, laments the kidnapping of her daughter Persephone by Hades, the god of the underworld. She is distraught without her daughter and cannot properly tend to her duties of supporting plant and animal life. 2) Demeter angrily confronts Hades, accusing him of selfishly taking her daughter as a joke without considering the consequences. She threatens to make him regret his actions for eternity. 3) Without Persephone, Demeter has fallen into deep depression and loneliness.
