This study examined the effectiveness of various cognitive techniques on the basketball free throw shooting performance of young athletes between 10-12 years old. 40 boys were assigned to different training conditions involving cognitive strategies like mental imagery and arousal adjustment. The results suggested that mental imagery combined with arousal adjustment can be an useful pre-shot cognitive strategy to enhance free throw shooting performance for young athletes.
