What is Adam de la Halle: Medieval Music Pioneer about?
Medieval music developed after the fall of the Roman Empire in the 6th century AD. Poets and musicians called troubadours, trouveres, and minstrels influenced medieval music between the 11th and 12th centuries. They composed and performed secular songs about love, joy, and pain. One famous trouvère was Adam de la Halle, a 13th century French poet and composer who wrote one of the oldest known secular music theater pieces called Le Jeu de Robin et Marion.
