Charlotte Cooper was the first British woman to win an Olympic medal for tennis, winning gold at the 1900 Paris Olympics. She also won five Wimbledon singles titles starting in 1895 and was fascinated with sports from a young age, starting her tennis career in her hometown club in Ealing. Charlotte passed away in 1966 in Scotland and made history as a pioneer for women
