The Sombrero Galaxy is an unbarred spiral galaxy in Virgo with a prominent dust lane and bulge that gives it the appearance of a sombrero hat. It contains a supermassive black hole at its center and has a large population of globular clusters. The dust lane is actually a symmetric ring enclosing the central bulge where most of the cold atomic hydrogen and dust are located.
