About this document
Microcontroller Optocoupler Driver Circuit by onepointer is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This circuit diagram shows an optocoupler used as a driver circuit to isolate a microcontroller from a power circuit. An optocoupler receives a signal from the microcontroller through resistor R1 and uses an LED to transmit a light signal to a phototransistor, which controls the gate of triac Q2 and allows current to flow through triac Q3 to power a 500mA load when triggered by the microcontroller signal. Resistors R2, R3, and R4 provide proper biasing for the triac and phototransistor.
