The document describes a single-phase square-wave bridge inverter and a three-phase square-wave voltage source inverter (VSI). For the single-phase inverter, transistors switch on for either the first or second half of the output cycle to produce a square wave. For the three-phase VSI, transistors switch according to a 180 degree conduction pattern so that three switches are always conducting, producing quasi-square line-to-line voltages. Fourier analysis shows the output voltages contain only odd harmonics
