He sees a large animal watching the house that he recognizes as a Thylacine, or Tasmanian tiger, a rare carnivorous marsupial thought to be extinct. The two make eye contact and recognize each other. Douglas yells at the tiger, acknowledging that he has seen it. Both man and beast are now aware of each other
