Laminar Flame Propagation in Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen Mixtures by P.L. Stephenson; R.G. Taylor is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Laminar Flame Propagation in Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen Mixtures about?

A method fot' the prediction of one-dimensionallaminar flame propagation. using the time-<lependent equations. has been reported. A very simple flame, that of hydraziDe decomposition, was chosen to illustrate the method. In the prescnt work the prediction procedure ha!: been used for a flame which is characterised by one of the largest reaction mechanisms for which adequate chemical kinetic data exists. namely the hydrogcn-oxygen. reaction. As well documented experimental studies of this name 3rc available. a critical comparison of I=':edictcd and measured name characteristics can be used to establish some details of the reaction more securely than hitherto. The res.ults of two investigations are presented. The first concernS the t~ffect on the prediction of flame speed of excluding some of the possible reactions from a very full reaction scheme (twenty reactions); the second result is in the form of a recommendation for reaction 1'ates of certain of the reactions. concerning which there is I!ncert:linty in the ex.isting data.
