What is Understanding Private VLANs and Uplinks about?

A private VLAN isolates switch ports such that they can only communicate with a designated uplink port, restricting "peer-to-peer" traffic between ports. This partitions a large broadcast domain into smaller sub-domains within a single IP subnet. There are primary and secondary VLANs, with isolated ports only able to communicate with uplink ports and community ports able to communicate with each other and uplink ports in the same community. This allows security and address sharing benefits.
