Amrapatra refers to copper-plate inscriptions used in ancient and medieval India, primarily as legal documents for land grants. These inscriptions followed a strict structure and included details such as the royal seal, genealogy of the king, grant specifics, and imprecatory verses to protect the grant. They are historically significant as they provide precise dates, insights into the economic system, and evidence of religious tolerance during the Gupta period.
