This study analyzed surgical site infections (SSI) after distal radius fracture surgery in a cohort of 31,807 adult patients to compare SSI rates across different surgical methods: plate fixation, percutaneous pinning, and external fixation. Results indicated that external fixation had the highest SSI rate at 28%, followed by percutaneous pinning at 12%, and plate fixation at 5%. Factors such as surgical method, fracture type, age, and sex were associated with the likelihood of developing an SSI.
