This study investigates the role of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in endotoxaemia-induced acute lung injury (ALI) in mice, highlighting its elevated expression in lung tissues during sepsis. BDNF was found to colocalize with markers for alveolar epithelial cells and may alleviate LPS-induced autophagy in these cells. The findings suggest that increased BDNF expression serves as a compensatory mechanism to mitigate sepsis-induced ALI.
