What is PCL Instability in Total Knee Arthroplasty about?
This study investigates early incapacitance due to posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) deficiency in patients who underwent PCL-retaining total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Out of 13 patients identified, 12 presented with persistent symptoms before PCL deficiency was diagnosed, and 6 showed improvement after revision to a cruciate-substituting implant. The findings suggest that PCL deficiency may be more common than currently recognized and should be considered in problematic TKAs with normal radiographs.
