## Digital dentistry Dear friends and readers of the Journal of Dentistry and members of the Digital Dentistry Society (DDS) International Welcome to the first series of articles published by the DDS in the Journal of Dentistry. On behalf of the DDS, we are excited and delighted to be part of the Journal of Dentistry and we look forward to working together on a journey of success and collaboration over the coming years. By way of introduction, I would to share with you some information about my personal journey and the history of the DDS. In 2011 I was teaching Periodontology at the University of Varese and I worked as an implantologist at the Dental Clinic, directed by Prof. Aldo Macchi. It was then that I had the idea, together with some friends, to present the project for the first University Master entirely dedicated to Digital Dentistry. We believed that the future of dentistry could only go through a digital transformation, and that the introduction of modern technologies (intraoral scanners, cone beam computed tomography, computerassisted-design software, milling machines and 3D printers) would revolutionize the dental world, guaranteeing a better standard of care for patien
