About this document

False Smut Epidemic in Chhattisgarh by IRRI_resources is a document available to read on EtoBox.

An unusual rice false smut epidemic was reported in Raigarh District, Chhattisgarh, India in October 2007. Late-sown rice varieties such as Swarna, Tapaswani, Komal, and Culture 64 grown in lowland areas showed unprecedented levels of false smut infection, with 16.8-40.7% of panicles infected. Tapaswani was the most severely affected variety. Intermittent rains and increased humidity in September and October likely favored the disease. No management practices provided control of the epidemic.
