Perinatal exposure to tobacco smoke in non-human primates significantly increases oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and mitochondrial damage in vascular tissues. Macaca mulatta monkeys were exposed to low levels of environmental tobacco smoke from gestation until early childhood.
