What is Zebu Cow Calving Rates in Yucatán about?
The study aimed to determine the effect of breed group (BG) and age at first calving (AFC) on the number of calvings during the lifetime of cows on a ranch in Yucatan, Mexico. Data from 65 cows of Brahman, Nellore, and crossbreed breeds born 1981-2002 were analyzed. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed Nellore cows had a higher probability of more calvings, while cows calving before age 3 had a higher probability of more lifetime calvings than older cows at first calving.
