Charles Scott was an 18th century American soldier who served in the French and Indian War and American Revolution. He later became the fourth governor of Kentucky from 1808 to 1812. As a soldier, he rose from private to colonel and served under George Washington. After the war, he settled in Kentucky and commanded militia forces during the Northwest Indian War. As governor, he oversaw Kentucky during rising tensions with Britain prior to the War of 1812.
