This article examines the level of profit efficiency among smallholder rice farmers in northern Uganda using a stochastic frontier approach. The study analyzed data from 442 farmers and found that the average profit efficiency was 59%. Farmers who engaged in group marketing had higher profit efficiency (65%) than those using contract or individual marketing.
