Dr. Mahesh Gupta founded KENT RO Systems in 1999 to pioneer reverse osmosis water purification technology in India after his children got sick from impure drinking water. He designed the first RO purifier at home and faced challenges establishing the company due to lack of capital and competition. In 2006, Dr. Gupta realized the importance of marketing and hired actress Hema Malini as a brand ambassador, which helped KENT become a renowned brand and earn 30 crore rupees in revenue that year.
