What is Foreign Policy Analysis 2 about?

This article develops a theory of perceived relationships and their associated images in international relations. It hypothesizes that perceived relationships evoke cognitive and affective processes that lead to four ideal images: enemy, ally, colony, and degenerate. The study tests if these images are unified schemata, if they affect how new information is processed, and if strategic policy choices follow from the cognitive and affect aspects of the images.
