Dada was an international avant-garde art movement that emerged in Zurich, Switzerland in 1916 in protest of World War I. Key figures rejected logic and embraced nonsense and irrationality in Dadaist works. Dada spread to other European cities and involved visual arts, literature, poetry and other mediums to reject traditional aesthetics and war through anti-art.
