This study analyzed 2629 E. coli isolates collected between 1996-2000 from 2100 Thai children under 12 with acute diarrhea. The isolates were tested for virulence markers and adherence patterns to identify the five major diarrheagenic E. coli pathotypes (ETEC, EPEC, EIEC, STEC, EAEC).
