The endocrine system is made up of glands that produce hormones which regulate organs and processes throughout the body. The major glands are the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, pineal gland, pancreas and reproductive organs. The hypothalamus and pituitary gland work together to regulate the release of hormones from other glands via feedback loops. The hormones regulate growth, metabolism, sexual development and function, and other processes in the body.
