This study analyzed two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) gene in 77 goats from nine Indonesian breeds. The GDF9 gene plays a critical role in ovarian follicular development and ovulation rate. One SNP (g.306G>A) was identified based on reference sequences and did not show polymorphism across breeds. The other SNP (g.228C>A) showed polymorphism in all breeds except Senduro, Ettawa Grade, Boerawa and Samosir goats. On average, the C allele frequency was high
