About this document
Tomato Cell Wall Pectin and Cd Fixation by Vanina is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This study investigates the role of tomato cell wall pectin in the accumulation and fixation of cadmium (Cd) under Cd stress. The findings reveal that pectin-related genes are significantly upregulated in response to Cd exposure, enhancing pectin content and methylesterase activity, which together reduce Cd accumulation in plant tissues. These results highlight the importance of cell wall pectin as a defense mechanism against heavy metal stress in tomato plants.
