What is Mucoadhesive Microcapsules of Rifampicin about?

Mucoadhesive microcapsules of rifampicin were prepared using sodium alginate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, and chitosan polymers to provide controlled release of the drug. Microcapsules were characterized for particle size, encapsulation efficiency, and in vitro drug release. Formulation F11 with a coating ratio of 1:2:2 of sodium alginate and chitosan showed the most suitable controlled release profile, releasing the drug completely over 46 hours.
