This document presents a numerical analysis of flexible airfield pavements under the influence of large aircraft landing gear configurations using a finite element method. The study reveals that different wheel configurations lead to distinct damage mechanisms, with six-wheeled bogies causing longitudinal cracking and four-wheeled bogies resulting in transverse cracking. A new multi-layer linear model for flexible pavement design is proposed, which is deemed more effective than the current CBR method.
